Wooby for the Win

I bought a Gen1(Woodland) and Gen2 (MC), both in Large and have worn both for a little bit by this point. The large fits well, as I typically teeter between L/XL on shirts, but like to go L on outerwear. I'll break down each generation below and will use the review for both comparing both generations. As a quick note, I grew up using a poncho liner under my jacket, when duck hunting on icy mornings. I loved it, the fit, and the materials used in the Vietnam-era liner.

First off, the Gen1 is good. I love the colors, the elastic bands at the waist and wrists, as well as the front pouch. The fit, width-wise is comfortable and allows freedom of movement. The length is a bit too long, however, and causes the pouch to droop in a weird way, whenever it has contents inside it. The biggest issue I see is the material is so delicate that leaning against a rough wall has pulled a few threads loose. Its unfortunate, since the hoody is new, however, it does add some character. Also, the threads clean up fairly well with a lighter and then don't need more cleaning up. I would definitely order another Gen1 or recommend it for a good, lightweight, packable hoody.

The Gen2 feels familiar to the Gen1, but has distinct differences in many ways. The fit is much more "athletic," as the site describes it. I would say I could potentially move to an XL, since the L is a bit snug. The benefit is that the pouch doesn't sag and the hoody fits more comfortably under a bigger jacket, for layering. In the other reviews, the MC color is said to be a bit yellowish and, to be honest, its entirely true. Its not bad, but definitely noticeable (see the product photos). I do like the zippered addition, since it makes for easy on and off, while making heat regulation really easy. This may be a perceived improvement, rather than actual, but the material feels a bit more durable and hasn't had any threads pull loose. Lastly, my wife immediately took to it and asked, "Oh, I like this...is this mine?" So, be sure to add another to your order for your lady friend, wife, etc.

All in all, I would love a mixture of features between Gen1 and Gen2. I think the wrist cuffs on Gen2 feel great, however, wish the Gen1 waist band remained. I also wish the Gen2 pockets had slightly larger openings, to accommodate the zipper pull, but love the angle, size, and sag reduction. I will definitely be recommending the Wooby Hoody to family and friends, and, will likely order another in a non-camo color, though, what's the fun in that?

Favorite hoodie

This one is my favorite, I love working out on cold days with. It’s lightweight and a great wind blocker. Also works great on a chilly morning.
